With the chilling weather we are having it’s getting harder and harder to find entertaining places to take the family that doesn’t require thermal-mummification. With today’s Alaska Rewards offer take the family or just yourself to the Alaska Aviation Museum, a place that is both entertaining and educational. The Alaska Aviation Museum is conveniently located next to the Anchorage International Airport overlooking Lake Hood. Discover how aviation has played such a major role in Alaska’s development before there was a significant network of paved roads. Exhibits focus on the careers of bush pilots all the way to the history of Alaskan Airlines.
While at the Alaska Aviation Museum take the time to check out their two newest simulators, the Shuttle Discovery and the Forces of Flight. Each simulator exhibit features three interactive stations that will challenge your piloting skills.
The Shuttle Discovery exhibit encompasses two flight stations in the cockpit providing the challenge of attempting to successfully recover the Space Shuttle at the Edwards Air Force Base facility. The third station is a docking simulator for approaching and docking the Space Shuttle to the International Space Station.
The Forces of Flight exhibit is a three station flight simulator with the main station featuring a 150 degree field of view with 138†HD monitors. The main flight station is located inside of a Cessna 206 cockpit with two additional flight stations.
Come enjoy all that the Alaska Aviation Museum has to offer in the comfort of their indoor museum or feel adventurous and bring your coat to explore the grounds which holds several aircrafts from an F-15 fighter jet to a Boeing 737 Alaska Airlines jet.
